I’m going to give this my vote, don’t think I’d do any better. Only possible change is you could change the motherboard to a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max which saves you £40 with no lost performance. Use this money to buy some case fans.

It all really depends on the monitor tbh - no point buying a 2070 Super if there's only a £150 budget for the monitor

A 2070 Super would be ideal for a 1440p 144hz monitor, e.g.

Hellfire13's list is very solid. I would recommend a 1080p, 144hz or 1440p, 144hz if your budget allows for it. 3700x and 2070 super is a pretty good combo

Disregard the error message, the motherboard ships with newer BIOS to accept the 3rd gen CPU's.

Not really. Some GPU demanding games like Far Cry 5 or Witcher 3 need all the firepower even on 1080p to max out. These are rare cases though.

False logic. If you're literally maxing out settings, you're doing it wrong, wasting GPU horsepower on a few placebo settings. If you care about "max" (or very high) settings, it's for visual fidelity. In which case 1440p for the extra pixels is the way to go.

I think anyone buying a monster like a 2070 Super for 1080p has had bad advice or has missed the point.

Or - to be fair - has a very niche use case, besides general gaming.

It's a shame that a video only in 1080p doesn't really let you appreciate the fidelity difference of 1440p vs 1080p

That youtuber seems to be a bit CPU bound too, especially at 1080? Or else there'd be a bigger difference in framerate, for sure.
