For £300 i think the best you'd do is using an AMD APU something like an a6 3650 with some fast RAM.

APU: http://www.dabs.com/products/amd-a6-3650-fm1-2-6ghz-4mb-with-amd-radeon-hd-6530d-apu-7K70.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product+search&utm_content=Q200
(£85)

RAM:http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-(2x4gb)-corsair-vengeance-blue-ddr3-pc3-14900(1866)-non-ecc-unbuffered-9-10-9-27-xmp-150v
(£59)

You'd then need to find: MB, PSU, DVD, HDD and case for £155. Hard but doable i'm sure if oyu look in the right places. Is there nothing you can cannibalise from your old PC?
