I was just wondering, would it be possible to get a mediocre gaming pc (maybe runs diablo 3/starcraft 2 on low smoothly, or League of Legends on high) for £300-350?

I already have a spare CPU and PSU so that shaves about £60 off the total price.

I was thinking the prices would be along the lines of:
nvidia 440gt (£60)
motherboard (£60)
4gb ram (£40)
Case (£40)
500GB Hard drive (£50)
Optical drive (£30)
+
AMD Athlon 64 2.8Ghz dual core
Storm 600W, 24A along 12v rail
(anything else im missing except thermal paste?)

I'm aware that the CPU is AM2, but are there any AM3 backward compatible boards? or do i have to buy a new CPU entirely?

If possible, can someone give any recommended models for any of the listed objects (preferably from scan.co.uk)

Thanks in advance.

4GB for £40 is way overpriced, you could get 8Gb for that
as is the optical drive, you should be looking at £12
600W looks like too much for this build, 500 is a nice ammount
ebuyer and novatech are where I buy from

OK, I thought the whole point of the AM sockets was that they were compatible, except when they aren't I suppose, was aware of the wattage issues, obvious not the IMC issues. Can't the amd IMC's work DDR2 and DDR3?
