£400 burning a hole in my pocket

I have saved up £400 over the last few months in order to buy a top-end graphics card. As you may guess from the currency I live in the UK.

I have two problems at the moment:

1. I had decided on a X800 XTPE but a number of people on this board and others have suggested that the 6800 Ultra is a better card. I have a 550W PSU so it is definately an option. I want to be able to play Far Cry, Doom III and Half Life 2 at high/max settings so I am after raw power without noticable IQ loss

2. Nowhere in the UK seems to stock the X800 XT or Geforce 6800 Ultra. I am guessing this is a countrywide (worldwide?) shortage as I have checked about 10 online retailers to no avail (they currently only have X800 pros in stock)

Can anyone advise me on these points

Cheers

this week nV's supposed to start shipping out, there are a few places with gts already, the x800xt should be out soon too. If ya are looking at the pro make sure its moddable to an xt otherwise its not really worth it.

Here is something from guru3d's forums,

6800 U: 350 +tax
6800 GT: 280 + tax
6800: 210+tax

yes its for real, they will have them in stock July 1. Some stores are taking walk in pre-orders, pretty sure the 800 number is also taking pre=orders. sale is from 6/27-7/03
