Hey all, I would really like to build a budget gaming rig, problem is, I only have £600, I intend on playing a plethora of games (not just minecraft) so I will need something that can churn out 40 - 60 FPS on high - ultra.

Thanks in advance you lovely building pro!

I would strongly suggest an SSD as your system drive (its a night and day difference comparing to mechanical drive in everyday use, it also significantly reduces games loading times, although you would have to go with something like 120GB to install more than 2 games on it along your system). Go for i5 as well, much more future proof option. Also 7870 is a big overkill for resolutions under 1080p. Go for 2gb 7850 instead. This build (no Windows included) is a much more rounded option, it will basically do (almost) anything you can throw at it (including BlueRay playback, high to ultra details gaming up to 1080p). Just my suggestions. Good luck!

For the same price as the Radeon mentioned above, you could pick up a GTX660 - slightly faster and gives the added benefits you get with nVidia hardware of FXAA, TXAA, adaptive v-sync, PhysX etc. That's what I'd do. The CPU recommendation and especially the SSD are excellent advice - I'd recommend stepping up to a 120GB drive though. I have an 80GB SSD and it's a bit of a squeeze to have more than two games installed. You'll want to be setting aside 15-20% of the capacity for TRIM anyway (background process SSDs perform to maintain performance, bit like ongoing defrag since you don't defrag SSDs).
