Hello there, as title states I'm looking to build a gaming pc for around £750 not including monitor, mouse and keyboard. I was hoping someone could look at my build so far and see if there is any better parts that are either cheaper or similar price with better performance. My build can be found here https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/klee212/saved/CmxRsY I would ideally like to run games at around 60fps or higher on the best settings but if that is not possible at this budget then I will just use lower settings. If you could also add in a 120gb ssd within budget then that would be great. I mainly need advice on the mobo and ram as I think the rest is ok. Has to be the R4 case unless there is something similar that is nicer

Thanks in advance

Solution
Looks decent.

One question - do you have to get Intel? You could save a bit and get a very powerful AMD proceesor and board and save about £80 - The 8 core AMD 8350 spring to mind - http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8350-Edition-Processor-4-2GHz/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1408115146&sr=1-1&keywords=amd+8350

Are you going to overclock?

That CPU is good but the infamous - i5-3570k is better and teh exact same price! The 3570k has been none to overclock to 4.4ghz - if you like that sort of thing :)

Over all, I would

- shave about £20 off and get a slight cheaper PSU (still great ones at that price)
- go AMD for sheer power of CPU for gaming and cheaper motherbaords
- shave £30 off that motherbaord and find something...

- shave £30 off that motherbaord and find something around £100
- Defiintely get an SSD - Games load fast and you'll kill you enemies before they even spawn :)
- Push the most of your savings into getting the best GPU you can - at the end of the say its all about the GPU

Best of luck - let us know what you decide

Update:
Here's a decent board with overclocking - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-M5A78L-M-USB3-Motherboard-Socket/dp/B0054U7HIO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Here's one of the besty AMD processors - http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8350-Edition-Processor-4-2GHz/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1408115146&sr=1-1&keywords=amd+8350

Both around for £170 total - as apposed to your £300 for processor and mobo (just sayin)

Solution
Here you go. Made some changes and squeezed in a better GPU as well.

+1, but an FX-8320 can easily achieve the speeds of an FX-8350.

If you're willing to forsake overclocking, you could always go with the following:

All the best. :)

Not sure why you would recommend that CPU - isnt the i5-3570k cheaper and can overclock!

You're correct the Xeon E3-1230 v3 cannot overclock, hence why I stated if the OP is "willing to forsake overclocking"; however the i5-3570K is an elder CPU on Ivy Bridge/socket 1155. The Xeon I've recommended is a Haswell CPU on socket 1150, whereby the Xeon E3-1230 v3 provides similar performance to that of an i7-4770; they're [i7/Xeon] both quad-core and Hyper Threaded.

The Xeon E3-1230 v3 is more "powerful" than the i5-3570K you're suggesting.

Xeon build with some changes. While gigabyte makes great motherboards, their graphics cards are not very good.
