Question “Start” in task manager

I have it.

Full disclosure, I have not really noticed it before. Interesting.

However, if you right click the lower "Start" you can find more information about the process.

Seems normal to me.

Perfectly normal. It's what runs the start menu.

It's always worth first expanding any collapsed process shown in Task Manager, then picking the instances one by one, right clicking, and choosing Go to details from the context menu.

In the case of Start, doing the above for it's single instance beneath the heading lands you in the Details tab on StartMenuExperienceHost.exe. Just seeing that is pretty self-explanatory.

Sometimes it's not that simple, but often it is.
