The keyboard pad of my Corsair K70 did wear out and the rubber/matt coating disappeared on some spots revealing the pure plastic. I am writting to ask you if those are the correct steps to renew my keyboard pad.I am not sure if the small holes on the keyborad pad will be a big problem when painting, what do you think? I think it is not possible to get back the rubber feeling so I go for matt.

1. Use sand paper to scratch the remaining coat of - Which sandpaper should you use?

2. Paint the keyboard pad with black matt plastic spray (2 layers?)

3. Use matt clear coat (2 layers?)

Should I use primer before painting or will using the sandpaper be enough?

Scottray's suggestion is a good idea. Start with that.

Will add that you might consider checking local Goodwill stores etc. They often get keyboards donated and you may find a Cosair K70 to cannibalize....

If you are going to paint consider a product such as the following:

(There are other colors....)

If the wrist rest is just clean and free of oil and dust just a light first coating to provide a good base for a second slightly heavier coating. No need to sand.

Today's paint products are very good with adhering to older paint and surfaces. Even bricks are now easily paintable.

Still read the fine print on the...

Still read the fine print on the can. May be some restrictions and caveats.
