âť— My issue (solved):
I had a super annoying problem while gaming:👉 When I pressed a key (like A to move left), the character would keep moving more than expected, like the key was held down too long or being dragged.
I thought it was:
- a broken keyboard
- bad USB ports
- driver or system issues (I'm using an ASUS setup)
⚠️ Here’s what I tested:
- 3 different keyboards, including ASUS TUF Gaming K3 Gen 2
- Multiple USB ports
- Disabled all background apps via msconfig
- Closed Razer Cortex and other startup apps
- Made all possible updates (Windows, drivers, BIOS)
➡️ Problem disappeared instantly! No more input delay — keyboard is working perfectly.
🔍 What was actually happening:
Razer Synapse 4 installs a service called Razer HID that hooks into the HID input layer in Windows. That means:
Even if you’re using an ASUS, Logitech, or non-Razer keyboard, Synapse still tries to "intercept" and process those key presses.
This causes:
- input delay
- keys feeling stuck or slow
- weird movement in games
- conflicts with other RGB/control software (like ASUS Armoury Crate, Corsair iCUE, Logitech G Hub, etc.)
âś… Bonus: Mouse macros still worked!
After uninstalling Synapse 4, the macro I had on my Razer mouse still worked — meaning the mouse saved the macro to its onboard memory. So:
📌 Final recommendation:
If you’re getting keyboard lag or weird input behavior, and you have Razer Synapse installed, try this:- Fully uninstall Razer Synapse (especially version 4)
- Restart your PC
- Try your game again
🧼 Extra tips:
- If you only need macros for your Razer mouse:
- Set them in Synapse → then close Synapse completely from the system tray
- If you want to use Synapse, use Synapse 3 instead of 4 (it's more stable)
- If you don’t use Razer peripherals — don’t install Synapse at all
