04 debug error code permanently stuck

I recently built a pc and it worked fine for about a week and now when i try to switch on it gives me a error code 04 on the led and is stuck on that. Also the hdmi wont power up the monitor.


System specs are
I5 6600k
Msi z170a gaming m5
Corsair 2×4gb 2666mhz ram
Hyper 212x evo cooler
120gb sata
500gb hdd

Have you OC-ed?
Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for a minute). Leave only CPU and CPU fan installed, both 24 and 8 pin power cables connected. Start the board. If the CPU fan does spin and still 04, then I'd RMA both board and CPU.

I havent oc'ed
I will reseat the cmos tommorow
Should i unplug my ssd and hdd before doing this.

Yes, it would be good to have minimum components connected.

Remove both RAMs, then install one and boot. If it works then your second RAM is dead and needs a replacement. If it doesn't work, then remove this ram and install the second one. There is a 99% chance that one of RAM stick is not working. I had similar issue and RAM replacement fixed it.
