So recently i have been getting a BSOD whenever i play a game. That happened about once in a day. But now about a 2 hours or so ago, my PC was on Sleep mode. After i pressed a key on my keyboard to wake it up it just didn't do anything. The screen was just blank. I heard my HDD spinning so i know there was activity going on in windows.

I restarted my PC and tried heading to windows. But it doesn't let me now. I get to the windows loading animation thingy, but then after it completes it crashes to BSOD with the same error that i had when i was gaming. BSOD 0x116. The cause was because of Atikmpag.sys.

To add more to it. The BSOD did not auto restart but it went away, with no activity on my HDD. I restarted the PC manually and it worked. I tried to load up windows again just to double check the same thing is going on and yes, same thing happened.

So i restarted manually again, went on to Safe-Mode with networking. It worked, i booted in windows. It instantly showed me that it recovered from shut down.

I proceeded to google the error. And i found out that it is caused by timeout. What instantly came to my mind is that this could be cause by the OC i had on my card (HD 6670). But the problem is that i can't change the clock speed on Safe-mode. So i uninstalled my drivers completely. And i succesfully booted in the normal windows after that. I installed the latest Stable omega drivers. Same thing happened with the BSOD even on newly installed drivers. Does it not reset the Clock speed on driver reinstall?

I've uploaded latest minidump to Tinyuploads.

EDIT: I have the latest BIOS. MB: Gigabyte H81M-D2V. CPU: Pentium G3220. PSU: CX430 HDD:WD blue 1TB EZEX

Solution
maybe issues with the newer driver and older cards ? I used the 14.12 driver on my 7850 and went back to the solid and true 13.12 runs on that driver with out issues ..

thing with the 14.12 omega was I get blurred text or not as clear text and a rare black screen with the 13.12 100% fine -0- issues nicw clear easy to read text no flickers or cut outs nothing runs everythin 24-7

just because it a new driver don't mean its a better driver for certain cards

so try that out and see ??

Thank you it worked! 😀

Strange though. AMD should not allow older cards to download those drivers, or atleast make them a risk drivers or something. Incase you guys want to know. My last stable driver was 14.9 But i am currently using the 13.12 i am too lazy 😛

well like I said some cards may not have a issues some may why I don't know ? my 7850 don't like any of the 14.xx too well but some other guys 7850 may run well on them ? could be what v-bios is on certain cards at the time you bought it ?? I try them judge them and then decide weather its a keeper or not .. but if the 14,9 seemed to do fine for you go ahead and use it just that my card likes and works the best on the 13.12 over the rest

anyway I hope it all works out for you and enjoy

Sadly i start to get some problems again. So i got a BSOD while watching 720p Movie. It was playing on VLC player. I got the exact same BSOD. Atleast now i can boot into normal windows but the BSOD is really annoying the crap out of me. 13.12 driver. I for sure know this is something to do with the Cards Timeout and stuff.

did you try to use system restore to a date saved before the issue started ?? have you installed any new updates then the issue appeared ?

used something like hardware monitor to see if the card is running at good temps and voltages ? http://www.hwinfo.com/

you can try a custom install of that driver and install one thing at a time starting with just the cards driver and test as you go installing ? [maybe something to do with the amd hidef audio driver or something added on top of the display driver ??]

one thing I did learn to avoided is there gaming evolved thing from raptr .. [opinion]

1. I don't have any system restores lol.
2. The card runs at 36 celsius while idling. But while watching a video about 38 degree.
3. I always did custom install and i don't have raptr on my pc.

I might have found the solution. I was using Image scaling in CCC. So i can use 1024x768 in CSGO without the bars. Disabled that and so far so good. Only problem now is... How do i remove the bars without the image scaling lol.

No crashes so far.

I am starting to give up on this. I can't seem to fix it. The BSOD happened again while watching a video. Then it restarted and i straight up went to this thread i almost scrolled down to the end but i got another BSOD. tomorrow morning i will remove the card clean it up a bit and see if it helps at all. Oh btw i forgot that i also scanned for bad sectors on my HDD. It found 24 and fixed them. As far as software sectors go.

well when you got you biod update it was for your revision board there are 3- rev1.0, 2.0 and 2.1 ? I would feel you would have way more issues then this if not .. anyway

also the bad sectors may be ''fixed'' but that don't mean what data that was in them was not corrupted/lost or damaged in some way.. all that can do is read and recover what it can and move it . damage is damage as far as that goes ...

'' any of the files uses a sector which is marked as 'bad' by disk utility then the bad sector of the file is remapped to a free sector and any unreadable data is lost''
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_sector

and you may want to replace the drive

'' that is either inaccessible or unwriteable due to permanent damage, such as physical damage to the disk surface or failed flash memory transistors''

keep your eye on if any more pop up 24 to me is high and then whats causing it and is it going to keep causing them ?? [opinion]

try a sfc/scannow with your command prompt in administrator mode

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

with out a back up card to check your system out with or a backup computer to check the card in all you can do is keep guessing at things until you say screw it ...

Hi,

Pasting this answer which i posted in another thread, so please understand and do the steps :)

One simple solution, worth a try, hope it helps u solve the issue. I have the AMD HD 6670 1gb DDR3

Disconnect ur computer, remove all the connections, open the cabinet, remove the RAM, blow air and remove all the dust from the slots, also disconnect ur HD and blow air in the connection slot and remove the dust, also the same with ur GPU.

Now take a pencil eraser and rub it on the golden connecters of the RAM lightly, both the sides as well as below (one which goes inside the slot) clean with a dried soft cloth, put back the RAM and connect the HD and GPU

Remove the CPU fan and with a brush or a blower remove all the dust from the in between of the fan, place back the fan and connect ur pc again

Download the software named "Defraggler" (Free Version) by Piriform (u can download in safe mode with networking since there is no BSOD in safemode)

Install and defrag ur drives one by one. Dont use windows disk defragmenter.

Start ur pc in normal mode. This should solve the BSOD.

Also download CPUID HWMonitor and make note of the temperatures if CPU is overheating.

And if by chance ur motherboard is of Gigabyte, and u have EasyTune by gigabyte installed, UNINSTALL it, it has a lot of bloatware.
