JUST finished a completely new build and I've received this stop code out of the blue. I've been able to replicate it but the reason why it shows up is weird. I'm hoping someone can explain it to me.

I was downloading a steam game while downloading/installing BitDefender at the same time. During the Bitdefender install, my computer locked up. No Ctrl+Alt+Delete or mouse movement. I figured it was frozen but after 10 minutes, still nothing so I had to reset.

Repeated the same thing and it happened again, this time it gave me that stop code. Repeated it multiple times with different tests (Prime95, web browsing, videos, music) and the only time it'll throw that stop code is when I try to download/install BitDefender... Any ideas?

Bad CPU? Faulty psu?? (I'm EXTREMELY paranoid about not having enough juice with only a 650W....)

Here's my specs:

Carbide 400R
I7-4770k
Seidon 240M Liquid Cooler
GTX 780i
Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB DDR3-1600 4 x 8GB

Samsung 850 Pro 500GB
WD Rapter 600GB

That error occurs when a device attached to the system fails to respond in time without indicating that it's been unplugged. This can occur with faulty hardware or on some motherboards that have auxiliary peripheral power connectors (X79). It's very odd that occurs when BitDefender is installed. Since this is a new machine you should go through and make sure that you have the latest firmware for all of your devices including:

  • motherboard (BIOS/UEFI)
    GPUs (unlikely, but check anyway)
    Hard Disks
    SSDs

Update all drivers as well. Anti-virus and anti-malware software love to poke around inside the system so such strange effects are not unheard of.

Remove any other antivirus , scanning, monitoring, or firewall software that you may have installed. As said above, they love to poke around side the system and compatibility issues with other software is extremely common.
You should also list what motherboard and OS you're using.

Yeah, I went ahead to Asus' website and got all the updated drivers and flashed the bios as well. I didn't have any other AV software either including Microsoft Security Essentials. I already reinstalled all the other software that I used on my other PC and there wasn't a hiccup at all.

I'm using the ASUS Maximus VI Formula and running Win7x64 Ultimate.
