Hi,

I am after a gaming PC build under $1,000 with a RADEON RX 480.

I was set on the GTX 1070, but seeing how good the RX 480 faired in dual CrossFire, I am thinking of getting two RXs instead of the GTX.

this is my GTX 1070 gaming build, do I need to change a lot to accommodate the RX 480?

It's really not a good idea to start a new build with 2 med-range video cards as opposed to 1 high end video card. The 480 has proved to be more power hungry and therefor hotter than expected so I would absolutely NOT go that route. A lot of games do not take advantage of 2 video cards anyway.

To answer your question anyway, You'd need a stronger psu, probably 750w minimum, and the H110 chipset does not support crossfire.

Solution

Thats a good one, thanks.

I've managed to spot the motherboard only supports DDR4 2133 MHz.

The RAM, I don't trust, it's not a proven brand.
2X RX480 beat a GTX 1070 and in rare cases beat the GTX 1080. AMD showcased this on the Ashes of Singularity test on crazy settings.
Gigabyte GA-H170-GAMING 3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard is a perfect motherboard for RX480 as it supports crossfire, bad for 1070, because it doesn't support SLI.

What would be your RAM choice for a DDR4 2133 MHz?

I've seen the benchmarks for crossfire RX 480 vs GTX 1070, I still in-between 2x RX 480 or 1x GTX 1070. I am more into the GTX 1070 as it a safer choice.

The 1070 is a safer choice, because in some games only one RX480 will be working.
For RAM, I usually go with Kingston HyperX Fury or G.Skill. I believe those two to be the two best brands for RAM with G.Skill being on top.

GeiL are not low quality RAM guys. Look at reviews and stuff they are a decent brand. The GeiL superluce RAM is on par with Avexir RAM which is the prettiest ram going but WAY too expensive.

The GeiL superluce offers the same package with a lower price and it's still quality stuff. The Evo Potenza is the same but no LED lighting.
