Hey guys, I recently got an Alienware Aurora R11. Instead of paying through the nose for a good bit of ram
I got the bare 1x8g hyperx fury stick with it and intended to replace. It seems to be one of those weirdo
custom's that Dell uses, running at 2900mgz. The machine came with an option of 3200 Mgz so I assumed
the board would handle 3200 and got a 32g ballistics cared from Crucial. The machine ran ok but I managed
to have now 2 video cards go bad and the tech at dell said the RAM is not compatible.
So I am back at looking for new RAM but, i see that the RAM i put in is 1.35V and the hyperx is 1.2 ... the
compatibility list on Crucial shows both 1.2 AND 1.35V RAMs available. The difference being latencies
it seems. So is it ok to go for one of the 1.35 lower latency RAM sticks OR the 1.2 higher ones. Im confused.
Also is 3200 too fast? The crucial site only offeres 2666ish or 3200 and higher.
Thanks for any help
