I have a I7-7700k and a gtx 1070, 1 24 inch 1440p monitor or 3 24 inch 1080p monitors?

The 1440p I've been looking at:https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gaming-S2716DG-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B01IOO4SGK?th=1

and the 1080p monitors i would get :https://www.amazon.com/AOC-i2367Fh-23-Inch-Frameless-LED-Lit/dp/B009V8F700/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462018738&sr=1-21&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin:6570747011,p_n_size_browse-bin:3547805011&linkCode=sl1&tag=slogee-20&linkId=81f5a5481a156ea6e6d081fa996e6428

specs are right on.
not sure about the dell build.
maybe check it out in person and compare with Asus Benq and Acer.
I picked up my Asus PG278Q for $750, taxes in and 4 year warranty came out to $905 from Best Buy.

I personally wouldnt have bought it at regular price or even at sale price $850.
Its a heavy investment, if price is a factor.. maybe consider non g-sync.

if you're on the pc a lot then id invest in a better monitor and keep that for at least 5 years

* i was considering getting a refurbished one...

Budget is around $450, can't really go any higher than that though.. i had a 27 inch for about 2 days before i returned it, it was a little too big for me.

I thought my 32" was too big for about a week. Now I think everything else is too small. 😛

24" is too small for 1440p in my opinion. 27"-32" is perfect for 1440p. 24" is best with 1080p.

^ agreed - 27 inch is the minimum for 1440p IMO , you're not really seeing the benefit on a smaller screen & without changing DPI settings windows desktop is pretty much unuseable (icons are way too small)

Don't understand how 27inch would seem too big & yet you're considering a tri-screen setup ??

There are 24" 4k displays (if 27" its to much for you). WIndows 10 does a great job scalating content. I don´t know why it´s crazy to buy a 24" 4k monitor but it´s ok to buy a 5" 2k smartphone.

I just rather not have the headache of shipping damage and it being a refurbished, some reviews just pushed me away.

You make a valid point!!

Soon we will all have 6" 4k smartphones lol but 1440p on a 24" monitor, nah we cant do that!!

I popped into some local stores as I wasn't sure if I could fit a 27" screen in my small work space which is built between 2 large wardrobes and a bridged set of cupboards. After observing length measurements I am finally convinced 27" is not for me. Whereas the 24inch would slot in almost perfectly (most 16:9 AR ones). TBH im glad it worked out the way it did, the 27" screens are huge compared to my 5-6 year heavy use of a 17" laptop. Plus I could not see myself sitting less than 4 feet away from 27" whereas my current laptop screen only demands 2 feet. At 3 feet, a 24" would be perfect (i think)

Now with the screen size checked, I'm looking for a 24" 1440p 144hz monitor (1-3ms) and if possible with G-SYNC. Whilst people are speculating the 1440p is not a good fit for 24", checking reviews from actual owners of these monitors on youtube tells a whole different story!

Before you decide on the 24'' consider this:
Size really does matter but at the same time size can be compensated by moving monitor closer to your eyes if you're comfortable with that..

As for picking resolution, two big things to go over:
Why higher resolution?
Do you have the hardware to support the resolution and fps the monitor is made for?

A lot of ppl are still staying with 1080 but with 24/27'' @ higher fps
I personally find the difference between 1080-1440 noticable in games when it comes to models, edges and overall picture.
I had a hard time myself trying to decide whether to spend 400, 600 or almost 1000 on my new monitor.

I wanted to buy a monitor and use that till it dies (I have 4 year warranty from geek squad) or till i get old enough to not care.
So i bought the best and biggest that i could afford and dont look back lol.

lol bro, this week I had a change of plan im actually finally settling for a 27"!! Some furniture re-arrangement will be necessary for this, nothing too troubling.

I was originally settling for a 24" IPS with GTX 1070 gpu.....but thank god for Chugalug_ who's been patiently showing me the light. I'm now going for the 1080ti card and a 27" IPS. BTW like you, I'm also settling on a purchase for the long run unless there is a massively desired technological break-through which we simply cannot resist. My current selection of parts if interested (lol i always drop this list in my posts to see what others think) https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/LIVE_AMMO/saved/ZT3BmG
