Hello all,

I'm looking to purchase a new graphics card (currently running 2x EVGA GTX 760s) and a new monitor (I have 3 AOCs at 1080p 60Hz).

I can return the cards and the monitors for a total of about $950, and I can put in an additional 250 at most, bringing the final budget to 1200 max.

I want a very smooth and crisp monitor at about 27 inches, preferably with slim bezels, and my graphics card must be capable of running games on the highest settings (skyrim with mods, battlefield, dragon age, etc).

One related question: is it worth it to get a 4k monitor?

Thank you all for your time and patience.

Solution
If your main question about 4k monitor.
You need to invest quite a lot to get high-end games to run properly on 4k.
You would need at least a single GTX980Ti for 4k gaming, probably even 2 GTX980Tis for games like Witcher 3.
The sweet spot today and the next 2-3 years is 2560x1440 (2k) in my opinion.
4k will replace our current 1080p mainstream standard in the next 4-5 years in my opinion.
Going 4k is not bad if you have the money.

BTW, Your eyes can not really tell the difference between 2k and 4k on 27" monitor @ 2-3 feet away.

Note about Skyrim:
4k resolution might not be for Skyrim e.g.
This combination alone: Skyrim+TAZ ENB+4k resolution texture will not run properly.
Skyrim can only use 3.1GB VRAM and with those combination...

Skyrim can only use 3.1GB VRAM and with those combination, you will have more than 3.1GB VRAM, hence CTD. The 3.1GB VRAM limit is independent of GPU installed VRAM.

Solution
Your budget does not get you into the 4k game.
For that, you would be looking at a GTX980ti and a suitable monitor.
For general use, a 27"4k monitor is too small.
A 40" Philips or seiki capable of 60hz will be $1000.

What your budget will handle would be a GTX980 and a 1440P 27" monitor.
FWIW, I have no problem with skyrim using a GTX980ti and a Philips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor.

Skyrim runs fine on my UHD (often referred to as 4k, although not correctly) the only problem is, is that all resolutions after 1080 there's constantly white block letters in the lower right hand quadrant reading "LEVEL UP" which I personally I thought was quite humorous at first since I had been playing it on a 24" 1080 then to a 28" UHD and immediately turned res. all the way up!
