1 long and 3 short beeps on Start up.

First off here's my build

8 gigs of ram

i5-3570 3.40Hz

a gtx 660 (The card that works) and the card I would like to use a GTX EVGA 4gig 960(but does not work most of the time).

Motherboard-ASUS P8Z77-M

Power Supply- Raid Max RX-730SS

Windows 10



So here is the story. I have a GTX 660 that works fine and still works fine, but I wanted to upgrade. I bought a EVGA GTX 960 4gig model and the first 960 I got off New Egg would not work. I got one long beep followed by 3 short beeps on boot up, I had no picture or anything. So I thought I got a faulty card so I sent it back. I then got a replacement in the mail. Initially, the replacement GTX 960 I got worked. Soon after I got it I started getting the same error code.

So I messed around with it and it seemed to be working fine. I had been using it for a few months and now as of a few days ago it pretty much wont work at all. I guess what I want to know is if my PC is the problem or did I just happen to get two faulty cards? If you guys think it is a problem with my PC I would love to here some feed back into what I am doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

some asus have those codes on graphics detection, 2 cards didn't work right? suspect psu is not powering with enough amps

Well the 660 works but the 960 does not work most of the time. I put the 960 in the PCIE 2.0 instead of the 3.0 and it seems to be working ok for now.
