1 Long Beep 2 Short Beeps Help Please

I just finished building my new pc but when i turn it on there is no display and only the Long Beep followed by 2 short beeps. I know this means a video card error but I have no idea how to solve it. I originally bought a cheap generic atx psu but that broke so i today bought a G7 580w psu. I also used a spare 6 pin PCI-e to 2x 4 pin molex for my GTX650 Ti. Not sure what to do now so all help is much appreciated. thanks!

p.s. please reply ASAP as I am selling my laptop to a friend and he is getting very impatient. also, i really don't want to buy more stuff (cables/new components).

if you do have the monitor hooked to the video card and not the motherboard.............

you may have to enter the BIOS and make the motherboard "see" the video card.

you may also just need to pull out and reinstall the card.

Not sure what you mean by this. the monitor is plugged directly into the gpu but the monitor has no display.
Is there a way of entering and navigating the BIOS without a monitor???

If your mobo has onboard graphics, hook your monitor upto it boot up the system then navigate to your bios and enable the nvidia card there.

I took out the GPU and tried it with just the onboard, but still i get a long beep followed by two short beeps and no display.

Any other ideas??

First off I'd try the 650 in a different PCIe slot if it still gives you the beeps try another graphics card if you have a spare. Also is your psu sufficient for the card?

After looking around the internet I found a site where the users arr suffering the same problem, it seems some of them had faulty RAM try booting with 1 stick of RAM if you get nowhere with the other solution.

Unfortunately I only have one PCIe slot and 1 4gb stick of RAM, but i'll try and get ahold of spare if I can find it. However, I have had many problems with my computer thus far so i might just get an IT person to have a look. Is this a good idea??

If you can find a spare and it gives the same response then I would try an IT repair guy. 1 way to test your 650 to ensure that it isnt your card, would be to ask a friend to try and test it in their system. That way you can eliminate the card altogether. Is the RAM seated properly I've it happen to me many times in the past.

Chances are if it is your RAM then thats probably why it didnt show you any posting information. If you could test another stick or ask a friend to test yours then you would know if it was that.

Yeah it turns out that I hadn't installed the RAM correctly. I didn't want to break anything and so I hadn't pushed the stick all the way in. After trying it again, I pushed it in until the clips in the side popped into place. Now the computer works perfectly.
