Hello,

I recently upgraded my old HDD to a new SSD and since then, I have this black screen of about 1 minute when booting. It does not happen when booting into safe mode. I already did some research and some said it could be drivers and I should take a look at my event log, so i did that but I don't really understand it so I was hoping you guys could take a look for me. I also recently upgraded to windows 10 but it was happening on windows 7 too, right after putting my ssd in.

Here is my event log:

Thanks in advance!

Hi again, LevelsRising!

I'd recommend you to check these guides and tutorials on how to check if TRIM is enabled or not:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-performance-tweak,2911-2.html
http://lifehacker.com/5640971/check-if-trim-is-enabled-for-your-solid-state-drive-in-windows-7

Another thing I'd suggest you to do is run tests on the SSD in order to determine its health and SMART data status. You can use the manufacturer's diagnostic utility or you can check the third-party suggestions in this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1926483/ssd-diagnostic-tools.html

Good luck! Hope this helps! :)

Welcome to the community, LevelsRising!

I'd recommend you to check and see if the SSD is properly set in BIOS. Make sure you have set the SATA mode on AHCI and that you have TRIM enabled. Another thing worth taking a look at is the firmware for your model. You can refer to the manufacturer's website for any updates on that one.
Did you clone your HDD to the SSD or did you perform a clean install of Windows?
(This might be useful as well: http://www.instructables.com/id/Installing-an-SSD-in-Your-Laptop-and-Cloning-Wind/ )

Keep me posted! Hope this helps! :)

Checked the BIOS, the SSD is set to be the number 1 boot option and the mode is set to AHCI, I can't find any "TRIM" though. I have an Acer Aspire 7750G. I cloned everything to my SSD with "Macrium Reflect Free". Also, I also get hte black screen when coming out of sleep mode.

Hey,

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it! I've checked the TRIM, and it is enabled. I also downloaded the programs you linked me to but they indicate that my SSD does not support some passthrough and so I can't see the everything like SMART values (Don't really know what that is). I also checked the manufacturers website but on their forums they redirect to the exact same programs. One program said health status unknown and the other said "Healthy, but we can't really check it". also the startup count and the runtime hours are wrong and stuck. I'm running a Crucial 250GB BX100 with the latest firmware. I also updated my laptop BIOS from the acer website to 1.21 from 1.20, no change. I don't really know what else to do. I can try to clarify the problem further:

- I boot my computer
- First the acer logo appears etc and I can enter BIOS etc everything is fine
- I get the windows logo, its loading
- Black screen (screen is on) with no cursor
- after a minute or so it starts doing things again and I can log in

Any suggestions?

Appreciated!

Hi again, LevelsRising!

And this problem was not present when you had the HDD as your OS drive, right?
I think it's time to contact the manufacturer's technical support and ask for further assistance with the issue. They might be able to help you or at least let you RMA and get a replacement SSD. When in doubt, always get in touch with a professional!

Best of luck! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
Let me know if you manage to resolve the issue, though! :)

I'm starting to think it is not my SSD since I have tried all solutions. I've chatted with Crucial and they gave me some things to try, none of them worked unfortunately. (They have great support btw!) I now think that it is graphic related. In Device Manager I have "AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series" and "Intel HD Graphics 3000" under Display Adapter. Whenever I unintall one of them, the computer boots fine, but windows automatically resets the drivers after a reïnstall. Maybe they give problems because of windows 10? I've updated them both to the latest version. 15.200.1062.1003 for the AMD and 9.17.10.4229 for the Intel. I think the AMD one is the one which is giving me trouble because when I reïnstalled it, I got the same black screen for the same amount of time while the computer was trying to install the driver, it didn't give me any error though.

Any suggestions?
