1 of 3 monitors goes black after a few minutes regardless of which port I plug it into

Anyone know what might be causing it. I've determined that it's almost certainly something to do with the monitor and not the computer. Right now it seems to be running okay, but it randomly went black while I was playing a game, and goes black randomly each time I turn my computer back on. Note that I have 3 monitors connected to the computer, and only one of them is doing it, and it doesn't matter which port I put it in, it still happens.

Even weirder is that if I unplug it and plug it back in, it will stay on for a little bit before doing it again.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

EDIT: Now it's flashing every 30 seconds or so...

EDIT2: Ok it disconnected several times (like it made the disconnect sound) and now it's fine... I remember this happening like a year ago. Really weird. Any clue what is causing this?

EDIT3: Now it turns off about 2 seconds after I turn it off and on.

Nope, the power button stays on and unplugging the monitor from the computer (not the power source) and replugging it in now causes the monitor screen to turn on as normally for a second before it once again goes black.

It uses a regular power cord. I'm using that power cord on a different monitor now and that monitor is doing fine. The monitor that is not functioning properly is an Acer AL2216W by the way. I'm not sure how old it is though. At least 4-5 years probably. Maybe more.

as it uses a regular power cord then most likely has 2 circuit boards in it, video controller & power board. I think the problem is in the video controller board possibly with a domed cap. it is fixable as done that a few times on lcd monitors including this Samsung 24" & my previous Samsung 19" frankenstien monitor.

Ok, awesome. Any idea how much it would cost me to order a new board? And also, are there any videos on replacing the board for this monitor? Would it be helpful if I took the monitor apart and took a picture of the inside of the monitor or part numbers or something?

open up the monitor with the power & video cables disconnected. the video controller will have 4 cables coming from the screen plugged into it. post clear close pictures of the component side of the power & video boards so I can look at the silver tops of the can shape capacitors.

Thanks for the help so far. I've started disassembling the monitor, however it's clearly not made to be disassembled. There were no screws in the back, and I broke the plastic housing when I took it off. To make matters worse, the boards are in a metal housing, and the component side is not visible. I unscrewed both of the boards, but both seem to be held down by something else (there are no screws on the other side of the housing). I took a picture, but it probably wont be helpful. Any idea what would be keeping the boards down, and what I could use to pry them out without damaging them?

My monitor is slightly different. This is an Acer AL2216W, but I have an Acer AL2216W bd, which is much more difficult to disassemble for some reason. The boards are stuck to the metal rig that he places on at roughly 3:45 in the video, and I can't figure out what they are attached to as I see no more screws on either side.

There is also a comment on the video that concerns me: "Did all this twice with same acer al 2216 w, not fixed. Comes on and shuts off within 1 second."

That's exactly what my monitor is doing.

I'm not sure what doming is. Like dents in the top? I don't see any. Here's a close up of the things I think you're talking about:

And sorry, this one is really hard to get a picture of for some reason:

Hmm.. I've never tried before. My dad knows how I think. Would it be expensive to replace the board? And do you think it's the capacitors even though none of them have doming?

none of mine were domed so I decided to start replacing the caps but I only have 1 board to your 2 as mine uses a power adapter.

I don't think so.. So replacing the capacitors alone probably won't fix the issue?
