I was wondering wether or not it would be better to get two 17" monitors as opposed to one 19" monitor.

That is an odd question.. 17" & 19" (5:4) have the same resolution and will display the same info... it will be a bit bigger on the 19".

There is no easy answer to this question. If you have tons of room, have a true need for displaying two screens simultaneously, and the graphics hardware for a dual display, than a dual 17" could be for you.

On my desktop, I use a single 19" LCD and it is plenty adequate. I suspect a similar setup will be fine for the majority of users.

I've used multi-monitor for years. If you want dual screens, then the choice would be size. Both 17" & 19" have the same resolution, so they display the same info. However, if gaming is a primary, be aware that not all games support more than one monitor.
