Following on from this thread, https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...plugging-in-micro-usb-fan-controller.3451840/ the problem has been narrowed to one of my ram sticks. I've tried them all by themselves in different slots and if a specific stick is plugged in the computer will not post (fans and lights turn on but no output). I'm wondering if this can be fixed and why it happened based on the previous thread, as all I did was plug the heat sinks micro-usb back in and now a stick won't work. I put this machine together in 2016 so I doubt a RMA is possible. Thanks is advance for any help

Did you try cleaning the memory ie the gold pickups? I use a dollar bill and just rub it a bit to clean it up. The cause for memory not working is anybodys guess. You could have caused static electricity when putting your hands in computer, it could have been a surge when you plugged in the usb after it had been started with out it plugged in, or the memory is 3-4 years old and it just plain ol died on its own for no reason. Last resort -------->

Rubbing the the gold contacts with a bill?

I've never heard about cleaning contacts with money. Use eraser instead.
But this won't fix broken ram module.

I worked in communications in the Marine corps, we had crypto cards that had gold pick ups, we cleaned them using a dollar bill. Dollar bill is made with 75% cotton and 25% linen. Always worked for us..

You are assuming it is broken. Obviously cleaning a "known" broken ram wont help.
