Not happening. With the largest drives being 3TB, you'd need 333 of them in an array to reach one PB. (assuming ped is after TB.) You're going to need to keep waiting.

Edit: That would only get you to 999GB, so you'd need 334 in an array. You'll probably need 340ish to reach one formatted PB.

1 PB= 1024TB = 1 048 576 GB

or 512 2TB disks (actually, closer to 565 if you want 1PB of usable space at 1.819TB of actual space on a 2TB drive) :p

Eitherway, you cannot be serious. Anyone with that type of storage needs would not be asking on Tom's...

Although I do recall seeing an article about a 1.2PB drive, maybe someone less lazy than me can google it.

It's petabyte not parabyte.

4745454b has already given you your answer. It's rather impractical to have a private server with this capacity.

You'll need at least two raid cards to support 334 x 3TB drives. Doing this alone has no redundancy as it's a JBOD. So you'd probably need even more drives. On top of this, so many drives has an increased chance of drives failing so you'd be constantly replacing and rebuilding the array. Completely impractical.

Pray tell what data you are attempting to store that makes a TB a small measure?

There are about 100 PB(petabyte) Hard Drives(about 1 million GB(gigabyte) each) in the world right now they have been released to the public. Also there are reports of 5-10 EB(exabyte) Hard Drives(about 1 billion GB(gigabyte) in the world which also have not been released to the public. They are working on a ZB(zettabyte) Hard Drive(about 1 billion TB(terabyte)) right now, we are still about 3 years off of making it a practical size.

As of price a PB Hard Drive should be about 750USD in 5-7 years. When it is released to the public.

I think like you. I need massive storage to create my home movie mp3 file just one continuous long file of my life (a video biography of my self development or call it a Blossom video diary) and so 1 tiny TB is small by comparison. If I wanted to create a 3D movie in high detail. then1 TB is also small in comparison.

But you Micheal Chris has got me curious, what do you need the storage for? If you succeed I would like to do the same by collecting all movie ever created and made.
