So I have an HP DC7900 sff. I have:
- 8GB Ram
- 2TB HDD
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz,
- Windows 7 64-bit
- crap integrated graphics.

I wanted to add a GPU to one of the Low-Profil PCI slots, but I realised that if i put a GTX 660, the crappy 250w PSU wouldn't support it, and it wont fit in the low-profil slot.

Is it possible to have the PC as is is, but just have a GTX 660 and a Power supply separate from the computer, and just being linked by cables, just like what you can do with a ViDock4 or PE4H with a laptop, only this is a PC.
Thanks

i doubt it. Power supply 24-pin must to conected to the motherboard in order to suply correctly the components. Aside
from that you will need to modify the case in order to accomodate a second power supply. Just upgrade the power supply...

Hey,

Well for everything to work properly, you would likely need a powered PCI-E riser if you cannot physically fit the card into the case. Then if you plan to use a second power supply I believe you would need the two to have a common ground (don't quote me on that though :p). The safest option would be to get a new PSU and avoid the hassle/risks of trying to run two PSUs. You could also buy a cheap case and move your components from one case to another. Otherwise you will be running a rather complicated set up.

Hope this helps!
