I am about to start building my new gaming platform and am wondering what the consensus is 1 X GeForce GTX 580
or 2 GeForce GTX 560 Ti. The cost is about the same maybe a little cheaper for the two 560's. Let me know what you think and thanks for your help.

You can see it here, http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/305?vs=441

See that the 560 ti SLI is better than GTX 580, but then the 580 will have less issue and easier setup, overall a better experience. So you decide. If you decide with SLI just make sure you have 4 PCI-E connectors (6-pins) in the PSU if you don't want to use adapters. Also make sure that your Motherboard is fully SLI compatible (8x/8x at least).

I prefer a single powerful card. As stated above, less hassle to set up and less heat as well. That is especially if the PCI-e slots are too close to each other because the airflow for one card can be severely limited. Also not all games are SLI (or XFire) enable; even the ones that are can be buggy.

You do realize that a few months down the road you are going to want more and kick yourself for not getting the single card so you can sli it with another. Upgrading is quite addictive. If this was the last upgrade you were going to do I would say gtx 560ti but we all know better:)
