It could likely an issue where Windows is allocating RAM for use such as in integrated graphics.

10GB installed? I'm assuming you're mixing and matching RAM? Such as two 4GB and one 2GB stick? Either way, after you try the above BIOS check/update, and checking for integrated graphics, and the link, you may attempt to bump it down to just 8GB and then 4GB and see if anything changes at all. I don't have much faith in this last part, as Windows still recognizes 10GB, but it is a curiosity nonetheless.

I just took out the two 4 gig sticks and left one 8gig and its using all 8 now! out of curiosity wanted to see if the other sticks were bad so installed them separately and they were fine! but as soon as i put a 4 and 8 gig together they are back to the original issue? idk guess ill be fine with 8 i just use it to stream games i play on my other pc!

Just make sure you test the Ram to make sure there are no issues. Last thing you want is a corrupt OS because of Bad ram.

Yup, it sounds like the different RAM sticks aren't playing well together. I always recommend buying RAM as a set, because when you mix and match there can be issues. Sometimes it can be corrected by adjusting timings/voltages/frequency, sometimes it will not even POST whether you make adjustments or not.

Sounds like this is the case! Glad you were able to figure it out!

Honestly try getting a BIOS update for your motherboard, it may fix the problem.
