Looking at setting up a 10gigabit network at home but switches are too expensive.
If i have a dual port sfp+ 10gb nic in my server with 2 pcs connecting to it each with single port sfp+ cards, can I transfer data between PC1 and PC2 through the dual port nic in the server ?

You can if you bridge the ports together. It will make the server act as a switch between the 2 ports. You are going to need different ip networks for your 10g and 1g networks.

Now this assume there is the bridge option in driver for your dual nic card, all 1g cards I have seen have the option.

I have never done this because the switch has always been relatively inexpensive compared to the cost of the disk systems that can really use a 10g connection effectively. Pretty much it has been if you can afford machines that can actually use a 10g connection you can afford a switch.
