On overwatch ive been getting high cpu usage when in team fights and my fps drops. i have used driver easy and there are a few drivers that need updating, i updated the graphics card drivers. also when i use the avast scan it says theres a few things they can do to help performance. i have set the avast settings to 'game mode'.
system specs:
GPU: rx 460 windforce oc 4gb
CPU: athlon x4 880k
motherboard: Asus A58M-E AMD A58 FCH Chipset, Crossfire Supported
RAM: 8gb DDR3/1866mhz
now i understand my PC isnt the best however, it exceeds the system requirements and there are multiple people on multiple forums saying this CPU will more than suffice. is there and setting i can tweak on my pc to stop this 90+ CPU usage in team fights or and programmes i shall uninstall. i would much appreciate any help 😀

1| Never use third party apps to tell you/suggest that your system needs an update with particular drivers. If anything crossreference your hardware with the corresponding brand manufacturer's site to see if your hardware needs a driver update.

2| You should list your specs like so:
CPU(and CPU cooler):
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

If you're on Windows 10, you should open up Task manager and see what resource monitors shows you when at idle.

I wouldn't buy an i5, 4 cores is looking dated and we know Intels next CPU's out in the next 1-2 months that 4 cores will demoted to entry level i3 range, even Intel are admitting 4 cores is not enough for a mid range cpu. Also the i7 7700k only shows its extra muscle when aiming for very high fps, unless your running a high end gpu on a 144Hz+ monitor there is no point buying an i7 over say a Ryzen 1600. Yes the i7 is slightly better but when you look at a balanced overall system is the rest of the system actually going to able to make use of that extra performance. Also we know the current Intel motherboards won't support the next generations of CPU, AMD have already stated the AM4 boards out now will support several generations of new AMD CPU's so AMD also gives better upgrade options.

Actually I'm more an Intel Fanboy if anything but I can see how good Ryzen is for the money, not everyone needs a 7700k. As I said the i7 is better but your average gamer isn't going to use that extra performance, only gamers pushing for the highest fps. Both the i7 and 1600 can push over 100 fps in nearly all games. An extra 20% fps is meaningless if hitting over 100fps and you only have a 60Hz monitor. Also you should look at reviews that cover minimum fps as it is this that usually has the biggest impact on how smooth games play.

What are you talking about??? Recent surveys I have seen show the vast majority of gamers use 1080p 60Hz, its a very small % that use higher refresh rates or resolutions.

Unless the OP is actually going to use the extra gaming performance you can squeeze from a 7700k then he is better off using something cheaper that meets his needs instead of wasting money. That money could go to a gpu upgrade. You seem to have a delusion that everyone needs to game at the highest level, they don't.

If you are seriously looking to upgrade, and are on a tight budget, then Ryzen 1600 is the solution... or a 1400 if the former is not cheap enough.

Take syget1's posts with a grain of salt. They are clearly misinformed about certain things.

I’m so confused, what’s better? What’s the prices, coz as far I’m aware ( living in the UK ) the I7 is like £100 more?? Also I’d have no idea as to where to find mobos and appropriate RAM?

Subtract ~£50 if you take the 1400 over the 1600.

If you prefer to go with a Intel build, I wouldn't bother suggesting any skylake(6xxx) or kabylake(7xxx) builds with coffeelake(8xxx) coming next month(Oct 5). But expect to pay at least £100 more for it.
Ryzen is great option for folks on a budget and not that far behind the latest core I series in performance.
But IF you can wait - with some more $$$ saved up, keep an eye out for the 8600(k).

omg thank you! would hopefully be getting it for xmas :))))) is this defo the set up youd reckonmend with the rx 460 4gb oc windforce? the next step would be to see how to intall a mobo as i have no idea how and whether id need a new windows 10?
