i have 100% hard disk usage on windows 10 startup, i'm not sure if this is normal,
this video was taken as soon as i could get into task manager after restarting my laptop
see video here: https://youtu.be/yy-OTQefnzU
i have very few programs in windows startup only avg security stuff,
windows is updated and my drivers too
i did a chkdsk and it found no errors.
i'm 99% sure i don't have viruses.

so the question is: is this normal or not?

my system:

hdd hgst sata 3 1 Tb
asus x555lb motherboard
intel core i7 5500u cpu
nvidia geforce 940m
8 Gb ram

Solution
Hey there, martiniboss!

I'd also say that this should be a normal spike during start-ups. However, you should definitely use the HDD's brand-specific diagnostic utility (or a third-party testing tool alternative) to monitor the health and SMART status of the drive. This is a much better and safer alternative than CHKDSK.

If the 100 % Disk Usage is still present and causing you some performance issues, you might want to check these Windows Services and make sure they are disabled. This might also help.

Good luck! :)

Solution
there are two reasons for this usage
1-either one of windows processes is using hard drive so much
2-or the disk drive has been damaged physically and it has bad sectors you can know that by checking the process list in the task manager and see if any program is using disk drive.if so you should care about the software that is using the disk if not.it's 100% a bad sector problem. (i had the same problem i bought a new drive and installed the OS on it, the problem solved.)
however you could use the old drive as a backup storage.
