100% Disk Usage

I have a Laptop that I use for gaming that is just under a year old now. 2 days ago it became completely unusable, if I open any application I get 100% disk usage after a few minutes. Whether it is Steam or Spotify or Skype or even a browser. Then the whole computer freezes up and I can do nothing but power it off. This happens even when opening just a Task Manager. I reinstalled everything that I use regularly, including Steam, Skype and Spotify. I disabled Windows Search and Superferch. I checked for malware, I completely uninstalled my Anti-Virus and got a new one. I performed a Disk check. And done a whole bunch of other small things for settings in Skype and Steam that other websites suggested. Nothing has worked.

did you try disk defragmenter? from the start menu type 'defrag' (no quotes) and it should pop up.
