Question 100% to 0% plugged in, now it says charging but stays at 0%

So my mom has a Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 1370 and there have been some very odd battery issues. First, the laptop said 0% and charging but the laptop battery was stuck at 0%. Then we unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started charging until 100%. I unplugged the laptop and used it normally without a charger for a few minutes. It was at 97%. I plugged the laptop back into the wall and suddenly the battery went back to 0% (the laptop did NOT shut off) and it again says 0% and charging but it is stuck at 0%. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and the battery is still at 0% and charging.

My question - is the battery the problem or the charger? My mom lost her charger a month ago and bought a new one and it's been working perfectly. I double checked that the amps and volts on the laptop and battery both matched so the charger wouldn't be an issue.

Please let me know what you guys think because I don't know anymore. Thanks for any help.

Which OS(and version) are you working with? Have you seen if the laptop has any BIOS updates pending?
