SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Prefer one good card for now so I can SLI/Crossfire in the future.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I have not had a decent machine for many years now. To give you an idea, I am running an Athlon XP2600+ with 512 megs of ram on a 80gig ATA100 harddrive, Geforce TI4600. I'm tired of playing the only two games I play at extremely low resolutions/FPS.
Please keep in mind I need absolutely everything. speakers, Mouse and keyboard too, mine are 10+ years old.
I don't have a preference for CPU but I've always heard good things about the overclockability of an Intel chip.
