$1000-$1500 budget for PC building

Solution
Better cpu cooler, psu, case, and added ssd and great 144hz monitor. This is SLI ready from the start. Oh and it's all cheaper.

The GTX980 is great, but overpriced IMO. Do you need so much gpu power?
The Corsair CX series psus do not belong in a build like this. They're mediocre at best.
Overall, it's alright. It would have a very high performance, just not the best value.

Add $120 for the 27" version of that monitor.

The EVGA is 65 after rebate and has a 10 year warranty. XFX is 69 and has 5 year warranty.

Haha you copied my build. But thats how I would spend my money.

Not that i have had a lot of trouble with them i just try to avoid psu's that have multi 12v rails when using high amperage gpus

I understand sir.

Actually the the PSU that CTurbo mentioned is really nice and it's not a Bronze rated PSU, it's Gold and gamers have been using it forever without problems. The Corsair CX series PSU's are poopy. I'd also recommend the same tower Corsair 300R (it has great airflow).
I edited your build with new version of that same CPU, Corsair liquid cooler, 120GB SSD and Gigabyte G1 GTX 980 (it has one of the best cooler and overclocks like a champ). I also added a 24" Asus monitor instead of the 21.5" you had and the 24" that I edited comes in 1200P (not 1080P) and it also has an IPS panel. So this monitor would be soooooooo much better for gaming. Also, you wouldn't benefit in games from WD Black, WD Blue does just as good. Hope this helps.

First post, long time Tom's Hardware lurker. Just made this the other night, sits at about $1050 without OS and accessories.

I picked the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 ATX for its sound quality.

I feel like this should be what you start your base build with and work your way up.
