I'm going to graduate hugh school this June and as a gift my parents are giving me $1000 for a new gaming PC(possibly more due to grades). Before I actually make a thread regarding the build, I was wondering if I could build a computer that could run the following games not entirely on max settings but not on low, but would prefer high.

ARMA 2 DayZ
League of Legends
CS:GO
Guild Wars 2
Any CoD game
GTA 4 and 5 when it comes out

That's all for now. Basically I want a computer in a $1k-$1.5k budget range that could run all those games and most games coming out easily. Would that be possible?

You could easily construct a computer capable of running those games on high settings with $1,000, and I would be greatly surprised if we were unable to generate a build which could max them all for $1,500. However, building to max games which have not come out yet is risky business, so I couldn't promise that we could set up something that could max "most games coming out". I wouldn't worry too much, however. If you play at a reasonable resolution, that amount of money should buy a very solid machine. However, if you're building in June, you should come back closer to then. The nVidia 700 series and the Intel Haswell processor line are coming out between now and then, rendering any recommendations we make now obsolete.

Ill most likely be back around June 16-18 to make a thread regarding the build.

As for GTA 5 I figured if it could run those games fine, GTA 5 shouldn't be to hard.

I personally don't know a single thing, literally not a single thing regarding PC building so I plan to read stuff on it soon but will still need help when the time comes.

GTA 5 shouldn't pose too many problems. My concern was more regarding your comment about maxing "most games coming out". It's not unreasonable for the short-mid term, but we've had a few folks recently with somewhat excessive future-proofing expectations, and I wanted to make sure you were being realistic.

There are a lot of helpful guides on the internet, both as text and videos. You might consider posting a request for links to some of the better ones, I'm sure that you'd get plenty of suggestions.

I look forward to helping with your build in June. :)

Hey guys, sorry for the bump but i'm going to be making a new thread within the next week or 2 regarding the build, but I've been curious as to if I could buy a build that could run all those games and stream with at least 720 hell even 1080(I will probably add a webcam option with the new build thread I'll make). My budget at the most will most likely be $1500.

It is definitely within reason for a $1,500 build to be able to stream those games at max settings at 1080p. Just post a thread asking for advice whenever you're ready. Most of the things worth waiting for have come out, with the potential exception of some non-EVGA non-stock-cooled 780ss.
