Dudes/ladies:
I've been doing a lot of research in order to compile this build, and now I want to see what the Tom's community thinks about it. Basically, I'm wondering if there is anywhere I can shave off some money (either swap one part out for another that but still have the same level of performance), or if any of the parts I currently have might not have been a wise choice in the first place.
Here is my list of goals/needs for the build:
1. I do plan on overclocking.
2. I still need an OS, but I am currently a graduate student (thinking about hitting up a friend in the engineering dept. for Windows 7).
3. I do not currently need a monitor (using 40" Sony Bravia TV via HDMI).
4. HD size is not that important (I stream almost all anything I watch/listen too), but retrieval speed is.
5. My budget is around $1000, but anything lower than that with the same level of performance is gravy.
With that being said, here is the build:
1 COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $89.98
1 ASUS P7P55D-E LX LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - $129.99
1 GIGABYTE Super Overclock Series GV-N470SO-13I GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - $349.99
1 CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - $89.99
1 Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80605I5760 - $199.99
1 Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664BA1339 - $89.99
1 Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $64.99
1 Microsoft Black PS/2 Wired Standard Business Hardware Pack - $34.99
1 LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - $16.99
1 COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 compatible RR-B10-212P-G1 120mm "heatpipe direct contact" Long life sleeve CPU Cooler - $29.99
