$1000 budget build help!!

Hey everyone,

Im new to building. Ive always wanted to build my own gaming rig. Im going to be needing something mainly for SWTOR. I need help on a good gaming build. Im completly a noob to building computers but do have friends who said they will help me. I want advise on some good build with good graphics for about $1000. I also need a new monitor. I have a friend of mine who's been holding out on waiting for SWOTR. But what I keep telling him is the same thing that Maximum PC says - if you keep waiting and waiting and waiting, you'll never be satisfied. It's best to just get a system going with room for upgrades and expansion, then you can customize the hell out of it to your liking. That's what I did and I have a system that I really love because of it.

So with that in mind I think I would actually suggest going the Phenom II route rather than the i5-2500 route since with the AMD 990 chipset, you have room for future processors, like the Bulldozer/FX series, which is the great thing about AMD processors. The thing about Intel is that they tend to release a new chipset with every batch of CPUs they release. That's part of what keeps Intel current and better than AMD is in that regard, but when Ivy Bridge is out, the Z68 will go. With Sandy Bridge, Z68 is in, and X58 and P55 are obsolete. And then when LGA 2011 is released, there will be even bigger and better chipsets released, and you'll want to wait for the new batch of AMD and NVIDIA cards, new RAM, new fans and heat sinks, new cases, new batches of SSDs, SATA 9, USB 4, hard drives, you name it. So just stick with what works or what doesn't, and upgrade from there.
