Looking for a build that will allow me to run the newer games on the max settings. (BF3, Skyrim, ect.)

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K ($220)

CPU Cooler: ???

Video Card: Radeon HD 6950 ($240) [maybe i will add a second one in the future]

Motherboard: ASRock ($130)

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) ($70)

What are you opinions? Anything i should improve on? I am flexible on spending, but i would like to save where i can without sacrificing performance.

You can change the hard drive to samsung spinpoint drive. It should be similar price but could have free shipping. Or go for the hard drive and dvd burner combos you can save money that way. All those are great parts and without changing the GPU or CPU I don't see what could make it cheaper.

Try and search on newegg for combos. For example, cpu and graphics card, dvd burner and Hard drive, memory and powersuppy. Buying individual parts can cost more sometimes especially since newegg or other sites charge shipping on each one. But I noticed I save about 100 bucks each time I configure piece by piece vs. combo deals.

Oh and that case is good but its expensive. The HAF 912 is also a decent case and its 60 bucks.

I think I'm going to keep the case i have cause i think it looks incredible. And i have a dvd burner from my dead computer that i will use for now. I will definitely look for some combos!

I would deff get the gtx 580 if I didn't need a monitor too. So I'm limited to the gtx 560Ti for now.

Christ, that is going to drive my budget through the wall.... but if its really worth the cost ill go for it.

Yeh its a massive card and its good but in a few months it will drop price like all other cards. When I first started configuring a build on new egg 3 months ago, I could only afford the regular 560. I waited till now and I can get the 560Ti instead which pretty much can play any game almost on high settings. So I never really justify buying the most expensive card on the market since its gonna drop when the new line comes out pretty soon.

the way i see (i could be wrong) is that i could get a waaay better bang for my buck if i got the second best rather than the current best on the market. It just seems like a waste unless you have a lot of money to throw around

So do you think the 560ti is better than the Radeon HD 6950?

Yeh just get a board that can do sli like asus extreme3 gen3 or extreme4 and ina month or two get another 560 ti, same version if possible. I still haven't ordered my build yet. Keep trying to get the best price I can with a monitor but the best components for under 1k just about so its a pain in my butt.

Ok i just want something that will be high-end for the next three years or so, then ill just rebuild again.
