$1000 build how is it? room to improve?

Here is what I came up with for my new build of ~$1000 that I hope to buy tonight before some of the deals are gone. I hope to get everything from newegg to cut down on shipping and hassle unless there is a good deal somewhere else. I have built 3 computers before without hiccups but it has been 7 or so years since my last one. I need everything but keyboard, hdd( have 1tb and a 128gb ssd on the way already), and mouse. I am building it to play games( I don't think anything real demanding) like Diablo III, A. Creed III, other older games, some light photo editing, watching movies, ripping movies I buy to my hdd, maybe some home movie editing, and of course general stuff. I am coming from a couple year old non gaming laptop I had for school so anything will be a huge improvement. I was hoping to get a modular psu but can't find a quality one that I like in my price range. My biggest problem areas are the gpu (I have never owned an MSI product), RAM, and MB (I chose the Asrock extreme 4 since it seems to come recommended for this price range, but i have used gigabyte, ECS, and DFI for my previous build without problems). Help in these areas would be greatly appreciated. I didn't include a HSF because I will probably add this at a later date when I decide to overclock.

Looks like a good build. I'm assuming that you plan on overclocking your CPU, so I recommend getting an aftermarket cooler. Cooler Master 212 EVO is great, I have it.

MSI makes good quality components in general.

Asrock makes good builds.

Other than the cooler, everything looks good.

that all looks good, however i read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that msi had been performing an unofficial voltage boost in the hardware of either the 7870 of the GTX670, i can remember which, but it might be worth checking out, from what i read it help overclocking and greatly shortened lifespan

It looks like the overvolting was the 660ti/670 but was back in October and now has been fixed I hope. Thanks for the heads up.

i would wait for a week or two because all of the sales ended earlier and i think you can get better deals if you wait a bit

Thanks for the suggested build that looks like a nice build but I don't like that it is from 4 different places. I don't really like a white case and that gpu doesn't really get good reviews on the egg. I might take your advice and wait a few weeks to see how the prices go.

I waited to get my cooler. It wasn't much of a hassle at all. I would wait to overclock, but definitely get one before you do.

You are right on the MSI cards. The 660ti and the 670 PE were the two bad ones from MSI. I don't know if they have been fixed or not. Since you aren't going that way, you don't have to worry about it.
