What is the purpose of this build ?
What existing parts are you going to reuse?
Does this $1000 have to include a windows license ?

Please read the sticky on how to ask for build help -- https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/how-to-ask-for-new-build-or-upgrade-advice.528714/

Thanks for the swift reply kane!

She wants to get into a bit of lightweight gaming, nothing intense, and she just generally wants a desktop at home to operate with.

There will be no reuse of existing parts, everything from scratch. Don't worry about the windows license, and don't worry about a monitor, she has an 24inch HD monitor at 144Hz.

A lot of stuff out of stock right now after Black Friday sales. PSUs seem to be particularly scarce and/or not at typical pricing.
