~$1000 gamer

Ok, so I found this site over the summer, and its slowly made me cave into building my own computer. The longest thing to figure out was mobos, but I think I've fumbled my way through the process of selecting compatible parts.

Please let me know if any of my parts are incompatible or you can think of better/cheaper alternatives. At this time these parts cost just under $900, not including shipping. I also have picked out a 22" monitor, listed last, costing $210 w/o shipping. I will also have to pick up vista, obviously 64bit (as i found out 32 won't recognize all 4gb of ram).

Looks fine. You might consider getting an E7200 or E5200 and OCing if you're trying to get your price down, but the 6MB of cache on the E8x00 series really seems to help games. You could also go for the Gigabyte EP45-DS3R to get a similar feature set and still save about $20... plus there is a $20 MIR but I never count on those. As for that RAM... WHOA! I ordered a build on the 8th that I'm putting together for someone and I wish I'd seen that memory.

As this is my first build it would also be my first attempt at OCing, which I don't know how hard/easy that is to understand or what extra tools (read: software) I may require to do a good job with it.

As for the RAM, I've read tons of recommendations "get 4GB w/ 4-4-4-x @ 1.8V" and this is the only set I've found to meet those parameters w/o OCing. The reviews looked good and the pricing was comparable so I went for it to avoid OCing.
