Approximate Purchase Date: May 4th

Budget Range: $1000, can be a little over but the target is 1k

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Streaming, Minor video editing.

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Speakers, OS, Powersupply(antec EW 650).

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Country: USA

Overclocking: Maybe, a little but not a lot.

SLI or Crossfire: No, but want to leave it an option for the future maybe.

Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050 (getting a new monitor later in the year that will be atleast 1080.)

Additional Comments: I was leaning towards an ivy bridge since i don't plan on doing a lot of over clocking. Also I can reuse my hard drive however it is only a 3Gb/s and I didn't know if i should upgrade or not. This will be my 3rd time building a computer.

Solution
All great choices! SATA III (6GB/s) is only useful on SSDs. They can actually utilize that speed. The 7950 is worth the $30. You get better OC headroom and better performance.

Here is what I've come up with so far:

ASUS 24X DVD Burner

COOLER MASTER HAF 922
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125418

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

Core i5-3750K

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

This roughly costs $910 so i have some room to play with. Would it be worth getting a 6Gb/s hard drive instead of keeping my current 3Gb/s? I could also upgrade to a 7950 but is it worth the extra money over the 7870? Or am I completely wrong about everything lol.
