1000$ gaming pc build?

Solution
$1020 build (includes Windows): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/37g9H

Points:
1) *Asus GTX770
Great card, and the reason why I didn't include an SSD. You can always add an SSD later if you wish and an SSD only affects game LOADING not performance so I'd rather have the better graphics card.

2) i5-4440
Great CPU. The AMD's (none of them) do as well. It also performs nearly identical to the better Intel's in most scenarios (within 1%).

3) Case/Power Supply/ DDR3 memory.
The ones I chose are okay, but you may have a reason to get something else.

4) CPU cooler:
The one I chose is much better than stock. You don't really need a better CPU cooler for cooling, but NOISE is a different story and the stock one gets noisy.

5) Windows 8 64-bit

how can he return items... using amazon

Then prove it. However, benchmarks like THESE show the Intel is way better.

That's just one, but there are almost NO games that work better on an AMD CPU.

Also, the i5-4440 at $175 is a great deal. I have a built I'll post...

*The recommended OS now. Better than Windows 7 aside from the new interface which can be avoided completely with START8 from Stardock ($5).

I won't bore you with why W8 is better.

Summary:
A great Gaming PC is about the correct BALANCE of parts. I simply can't do better for $1000. The key parts for gaming are the CPU and Graphics Card. Again, an AMD CPU will throttle many games.

Not to be rude, but that's a pretty useless report. You need to look at real-world benchmarks for multiple games like the one I linked where the Intel is better by as much as 40% and often at least 20%.

If he ONLY wanted to use Handbrake or something that might benefit from all EIGHT CORES of the AMD that might be a different story.

THIS pretty much sums it up:
"Either way you cut it, the FX-8350 remains true to what we've seen in our other gaming tests: it's pretty fast in absolute terms, easily improves on the performance of prior AMD chips, and still has a long way to go to catch Sandy Bridge, let alone Ivy."

...let alone Haswell (i5-4440).

Of course the FX-8320 isn't even as good as the FX-8350...

Do you reccomend i5-4440s or i5-4440?
