Hey All,

New to the site and new to wanting my own PC. I'm a video editor by profession, so currently I have a 2013 MacBook Pro.

I'm looking to possibly add a PC so I could actually play all the games I see my friends playing/talk about and also expand my knowledge of other, PC compatible editing software (mainly Adobe Premiere Pro).

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: Late 2014

Budget Range: $1000 - $1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, video editing, and surfing the internet.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, if within budget.

Parts to Upgrade: Im starting from scratch

Do you need to buy OS: Yes I need one.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Whichever

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Moline, IL, USA

Parts Preferences: Which ever is the best

Overclocking: No idea - I'm a noob, sorry

SLI or Crossfire: I dont know

Your Monitor Resolution: I dont have one yet

Additional Comments: Looking for something capable of WoW, LoL, steam games, Adobe Premiere Pro

Thanks for any and all help!

To get a good balance between gaming and editing I went with an i7 as the hyperthreading will help with editing and is becoming increasingly required to play the newest games as it allows the processor to work with 8 threads at a time (when the program is designed to use it). The 16gb of ram isn't required for gaming, 8gb would be enough but 16gb will again be beneficial for editing. The 970 is the newest graphics card our right now and gives great performance for its price and will max out whatever you like :) The psu is a well made Seasonic built unit and is plenty for a single 970. The OCZ arc is similar to the mx100 and is a good entry level choice and will give you lovely fast loading times
