The last time I built a PC was like 8 years back. Since then I have been using laptops (latest one is i5-4200, 4Gb, 2Gb NVIDIA) gifted by my parents and never got a chance to build one until now.

So, I am in college and a web/android developer, trying to build my work/battlestation with my own savings. I have maxed out everything.

Apps :

  • ■ Android Studio (demanding for gradle build)
    ■ PHPStorm/WebStorm
    ■ Visual Studio
    ■ VirtualBox (all the time)
    ■ Chrome (loads of tabs + extensions. Some with music playing, so pretty heavy on mem)
Apart from that I wish to play GTA-V, BF4, Far Cry and a few other games on this build.

Approximate Purchase Date: Later this month (late June, early July '15)

Budget Range: $1000 (excluding peripherals)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Web/Android Development (with VM running), gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies

Preferred Parts: Backlit keyboard & performance mouse & a 24" IPS display

Parts Not Required: HDD (I have plenty, I just need a new SSD)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: amazon.in, snapdeal.in or anything that ships to India

Country: India

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe (i'll add another card later)

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 (i will include another monitor in future)

Additional Comments: I have a copy of Win 8.1 and will get a free upgrade to Win 10. So, please don't include that.
I would most definitely have a multi-monitor setup in near future.

Also, I am building it @ Chennai, India if that helps.

Thanks for the build. I mistyped including peripherals, the price is excluding them. And I prefer head/earphones to speakers. I have updated the question.

Can I get an i7 instead, coz HT will help with the heavy multi-tasking.

Admirable
Within your budget and used quality parts where possible.

Restricted websites to Amazon and Newegg, as they do ship to India the last time I've checked, Also removed rebates out of the equation as that simply won't work for households overseas.

Included a Xeon, Which performs similarly to an i7 and is significantly cheaper, together with the 16GB of RAM it should do pretty well for multitasking.

Thanks for the build.

Its costly in India with i7 4790 being $410. Same for others, they are about 20% costlier here. So, I am planning to go with the build minus the headphones & monitor for now (i have an old 20" LG). Although can I get a better case ?

Yeah everything is expensive in my country too. Minus headphones and monitor + the case. I'm not sure what's your taste in case designs but here Phanteks Enthoo Pro is good for $99.99.
