Best wizzkids of the world,

I am going to buy an new computer.. Congratulations I hear you think so what's the problem..

I AM going to buy
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1100 MHz, SocketA
Asus A7V, SocketA, AMD Thunderbird mainboard
CoolerMaster CPU Cooler AMD SocketA tot 1.2Ghz
Asus AGP-V6800 GeForce 256, 32Mb SGRAM Dlx DDR
Dimm 128Mb SDram PC133, 133Mhz

Quantum Fireball LM, 20.5Gb, 7200rpm
Creative SoundBlaster Live Player 1024 bulk
lg 17 inch monitor

My question to you is.

1: Is it better to buy a less price full 1000 MHz for the Graphic card i chose
cause the 1000 MHz already takes the full 100% of graphic card...
Should i put the money that's over,(if i buy the 1000 mhz) in to an better graphic card?

If you have another suggestion's to say of the system i am gonne buy.. please let me know..

I want to buy something i wont regret.

Thanx people,

i've got the A7V with a 900Mhz Athlon and a Geforce2 MX card on it. it gets a good 5700 3D Marks (800x600x16Bit)
Go for a Geforce2 of some description becuase of i think it made at 0.18 microns and draws less power. I've heard of people having trouble still with the original geforce card + athlon combo.

i got the 900Mhz becuase i don't see much difference between 900/1000/1100 at such high speeds. the 1100 is only 10% faster that the 1000Mhz athlon, which i the old days would have equated to a P150 Vs. P166.

The A7V supports UDMA-100 (or ATA-100 depending on which acronym you use) hard disks so make sure your Fireball will support it.

why not buy a 1000Mhz chip, use it for a bit and then overclock it later. that's my plan with the 900.

The A7V gives you full control over the voltage and with 1Mhz increments in the FSB, it's easy to do.

Get a 1000MHz Athlon and spend the extra cash on a Geforce2 GTS from Creative Labs.

i don't know where you live, but up here in North Wales, PC133 memory is only £50 per 128MB ram, so don't skimp on just 128Mb. I got 384Mb and have never looked back!

So get...

1000Mhz Athlon
A7V - DEFINITLY !!!
256Mb PC133
Geforce2 GTS (or MX if you need to save the cash - only £95)
SBLive!
and the rest of the kit you're going to get.

Prices i paid here were
A7V - £120
900Mhz - £160
384Mb PC133 - £150
SBLive! - £45
Geforce2MX - £95

the 1000Mhz Athlon was £223. too much of a jump when i'm going to overclock it anyway, and that price jump *smells* like it's going to drop soon.

Good Luck,

That'll be a fine PC you'll have there!

Mark.

If your worried about gaming your best bet is put the 4 into the video card. For playing at 1024-768 and up (at least) the video card is holding up the processor anyhow. Hell go lower than 1 gig even.

Only situation I see more cpu power needed is mpeg4 decoding.

I saw a review where at high resolution a 500mhz equaled a 1.2 gig cpu.
