<$1000 Upgrade, want to lower costs

Things to know:

- I am recycling these from my previous build: ASUS Radeon 6870 1GB DirectCU, Samsung SH-222AB SATA DVDRW Drive, 24" Monitor and Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HDD.

- What I want most is a QUIET, RELIABLE system for casual gaming and video editing. (My previous system used the AMD Phenom II's stock fan which sounds like an airplane in my hut & dusty climate)

- I'm still unsure if I'll ever overclock. Is it worth it?

If you don't plan to overclock drop the cooler and the z77 motherboard, if you're into video editing, the xeon 1230 v2 is a good option, it's the i7-3770 without the on die gpu.

And for a ssd, the plextor m5s over the samsung 840, the samsung 840 non pro has tlc nand which is inferior to the mlc nand of the plextor, the tlc nand has less endurance and performance.

powersupply is quite overkill. Could make do with 600w bronze.

They look like brilliant suggestions, thank you! That CPU looks fantastic. Not sure about that much RAM, but I'll think about it. Case seems bizarre but good.
