Question 100Hz for video editing and MSFS

A friend has asked me to choose a 27-inch monitor that will be used mostly for video editing and playing MS Flight Simulator. Budget is a bit tight and some of the QHD models I've shortlisted have a refresh rate of 100 Hz with HDR10, VRR and 250 nits. The graphics card will be an RTX 4070.

He's never used anything above 22-inch FHD 60Hz. So a 27-incher with those specs will seem like a big upgrade - at first. Will it be OK in the long run, particularly regarding the refresh rate?

The question to you would be, do you render/output video content that's above 60Hz? If the answer is not, then don't bother. The other question is, do you game on MSFS more than your edit videos? If the answer is yes, then you pick up the 100Hz monitor.

If you haven't experienced gaming at higher refresh rates, well, you should jump in, IMHO.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The new rig is not for me. I don't game or edit videos. I'm happy with my 27-inch FHD 60Hz display.

The friend has a small studio, mostly used for talk shows, quiz competitions and the like. I don't know how to grade his editing activities but I'm fairly sure it's nothing too fancy.

He often uses a green screen, patches clips, embeds sub-titles, fade in fade out, etc. He uses DaVinci Resolve and so far hasn't produced anything above FHD at 60Hz.

I'm not sure which he does more - editing videos or playing MSFS, but he's been doing both for the 30+ years I've known him.

So you think that, apart from all other features, 100Hz is good enough?
