Question 10400 - 100W max TDP heatsink

Hi all.
A 100W max tdp heatsink is good for a 10400 CPU?
I ask this because of the L2 power draw.

Its a locked chip, cant draw more than 65W. Ur 100W heatsink is fine.

Edit: my mistake, didnt know power draw on L2 was 134W. Im guessing you will atleast need smth like this:

PL2 power draw is only for a limited period of time, assuming the motherboard doesn't default PL2 time to infinity. So you don't need a heat sink to handle PL2, only PL1 since that's the steady state power draw.

However I still wouldn't put something less than say an Arctic Freezer 34 or a DeepCool A400 on it.

Put a decent cooler on the cpu, be it a Thermalright Assassin X or Deepcool AG620... or one of those Vetroo V5s.
Whatever this 100w cooler is, it probably isn't much better than the cpu boxed coolers.

Considering Intel doesn't ship heat sinks with processors above 65W in PL1, we can only assume that's about the extent the cooler's good for.

You can always adjust the PL2 to be below the max performance of the cooler so that you will always have good (enough) temps on the CPU.
Whatever cooler you put on your CPU that's how high the max power draw of the CPU will be, if the cooler can only cool 100W then the CPU will only draw 100W ,if you don't adjust PL2 the CPU will run at 100C when you run heavy loads on it but that will not damage the CPU.

Yes, a 100w max tdp cooler is more than enough for this cpu and it will keep it much cooler.
