Can my system hold a 1050ti with 280 psu? this is my specs:

PSU: FSP280-40EPA
CPU: i5 3470
GPU: gt630
RAM: 8 gb ddr3 1600 (i will upgrade to 16gb)

maybe a 1050ti without pin connector.

77W CPU, ~75W GPU.

That's an OEM unit, built for Lenovo (I believe) by FSP.
Max 270W on the 12V (22A)

Assuming the PSU is of the era of the i5-3470, it's 6 years old and will have degraded some.

It *might* be fine..... I'd suspect it would be borderline.

You'll be fine using a model of GeForce GTX 1050 Ti that doesn't require any PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Based on your posted system specs a PSU with a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 15 Amps or greater is recommended. Your FSP280-40EPA has a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 22.5 Amps.

Given ~6 years of aging, on what was a PSU built for an OEM system (so built to a pricepoint, with Caps, Fan etc likely being relatively 'cheaped out' on and only warranted for the 12? months provided for the system as a whole), wouldn't fill me with too much confidence, unfortunately.

I'd still put it borderline. May well be fine, might not. Only way to know 100% would be to test it out and see.
As I mentioned, the FSP unit should have sufficient protection - They're still a reputable OEM. It's better than some off-brand junk, even brand new, that's for sure. Try it out. If you have unexpected crashes/instability, it may well no longer be up for the task.

*FWIW, I'm not sure whetehr Lenovo use proprietary connectors to the motherboard. If they use an ATX standard 4or8pin EPS and a 24pin, a PSU replacement is easy enough.

No. Anything will a lesser power draw will have substanitally worse performance.

1050 (nonTI), 750TI etc are all 75W GPU's and perform worse than a 1050TI.
A GT 1030 is a ~35W TDP card..... but it's nowhere close to a 1050TI performance-wise.

AMD have their competing offerings too, but at the 75W TDP (or less) range, the 1050TI is the clear winner.

in a few months will be released the 11/20 series of nvidia, 2050/1150 ti seems to be good, the TDP will be less or more than the actually 1050ti?
It is worth wait for the 11/20 series?
