Hey all so currently I have a 1050ti and was browsing craigslist and found a 1060 3gb for $100.

Basically a free upgrade since my one buddy wants to buy my 1050ti for $100 and have me install it for him so he can play fortnite on pc instead of PS4

Anyway I feel the 1060 would be a solid upgrade but I am worried about only having 3gb of vram. Is this a moot point or should I hold out for a 6gb model?

I only plan on gaming at 1080p for the time being (getting my first 144hz monitor this week) and wanted to push games to at least 144fps at medium detail.

I mainly just play shooters, fortnite, cod, bf, some world of Warcraft.

My rig is getting aged slightly here is my current specs

i5 4430
16gb ram
Samsung ssd
Corsair 600w psu

Solution
1060 6 GB or you simply go with 1050ti. I don't see the point of buying the 3gb variant of 1060. if you really plan to game 144Hz a 1060 6gb or the RX580 8gb is a solid option

The 1060 3Gb even with less VRAM will be better. However check around for a RX580 used since they come in both 4Gb and 8GB.

Also the 144HZ monitor will be sort pointless with a 1060, since on all but games like Fortnite you probably wont be getting 144fps consistently and most liekly will have to drop some settings in games that you could. You woudl be better off with around a 100HZ quality panel monitor.
